Day 9: Chatuchak, Khao San, Patpong

We reserved our 2nd day for our shopping in Bangkok's famous weekend market.
Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the world's largest weekend markets. It contains more than 15,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand.

We just took the train and we instantly reached Chatuchak.

Day 9 at Chatuchak
bear with me, Im sick

After a while, I suddenly felt dizzy again. I rushed to the nearest public restroom and threw up. Di ko na kinaya, pagod na ko talaga. It's been 9 days of restlessness. I badly needed to rest. Sol, my travel buddy, helped me get a taxi to bring me back to the hotel. She stayed and shopped (til night) at Chatuchak. Ü

Upon reaching the hotel, LBM galore na naman ako. Ang taas-taas na din ng lagnat ko. At that time, gusto ko na umuwi. I really felt Im thousand miles away from home. =(

mahina at mabagal ang effect sakin ng gamots from BKK

I knew I've been pushing myself and giving all the energy I have for this trip. I deserve a relaxing Day 9.

That night, I started feeling better for a while. Sol and I decided to check out Khao San Road, the famous backpacker's area. A noisy street with people partying, drinking, eating, have a massage, and do shopping along the streets.

a busy street in Khao San

reminds me of Malate area

colorful lanterns for sale

Afterwards, we checked out the red light district - Patpong. The place is kinda scary for us. Again, prostitution is regulated in Bangkok. It's very ironic to see a country that is famous for its outstanding temples and being a sex tourist at the same time.

red light district - Patpong

The pimps are very pushy and annoying. We gracefully declined to watch the "ping pong" show. I think it's very disturbing to see the "talents" of a man and woman's genitals.

We decided to eat dinner in a homier place. We ordered Pad Thai again plus coffee. Parang hindi match no? hehe

the Pad Thai in the streets are tastier (and cheaper ofcors)
Meet Val..

Sol's stuff toy, Val

We rushed home because Im having diarrhea again. Naubos na gamot ko pero wala pa ding epekto. Nadedehydrate na ko that time. Haha

Anyway, Day 10 na kinabukasan. I can't wait to pack my things for the last time.

some of the items I bought in KL, SGN, SR, and BKK

power packed Day 10, up next..

You are a gutsy traveler! Maski na maysakit, sige pa rin LOL. I read your previous posts and I am more convinced that you are a tough cookie on the road. Just exercise more care because you will not find many "Mang Arnels" out there.

sayang at di ko nalaman na may red district pala dyan sa bangkok. heheheh.

Matao ang khao san road pagdating ng 3pm onwards.... pero sa umaga, akala mo ordinary street lang un. :D

dami mong nabili pala. nakakapagod nga naman yung ginawa mo kaya siguro kahit gaano yung paghahanda na gawin mo para sa byahe na to mahirap pa rin. but all the effort in these series were all worth.

talaga pala nag gastroenteritis ka sa trip mo before; i didn't take it seriously when i first read it in your previous post. may lagnat pa?! must be infectious. at least you're equipped with e-meds when you travel or at least you have extra penny to spend for such necessity.

i like asian lanterns so my eyes were glued for few seconds on your pic with those gorgeous lights. i wish someday to build a dream house with a patio of colorful lamps from across the globe *wishful thinking*

jatuchak market was memorable for tina and i. it was like 10x as big as divisoria siguro 'no? i swear babalik ako dyan to hoard oriental pieces for interiors tapos sarap pa-door-to-door... *parang may budget!* hehehe...

Ang hirap magkasakit habang nasa byahe. Your near to Day 10, your experience was admirable.

Mahirap nga yun na nagkasakit ka during your trip. :( I remembered having fever in Shenzhen and like you, I wanted to be back home.

Pero it was a good thing that you were able to stroll around that evening. Para ngang Malate area ang Khao San Road. And I can't imagine what the Ping Pong shows are like. Di ko carry ang pumasok sa mga ganun. o_0

Btw, what camera do you use? Gusto ko kasi ang linaw pa din ng pics mo kahit night shots. ^_^

I hope you'll feel better soon. Take care and looking forward to more travel stories from you. :)

omg you had to go down like that while the trip is not over. that isn't what you planned for. you know, maybe i should allow for that emergency.

did you drink any water that's not bottled like in a restaurant?

Khao San Road--I guess you can find all that you need in there. So--have you tried the classic Thai massage? meron bang may sakit na ganyan na all smiles parin? hehehe

Too bad you were sick. Anyway it seems you were still able to enjoy the place.
