Effortless Surfing in La Union | a Travel WITHOUT a Camera

welcome to my new blog layout! ^_^
nagising nalang ako kahapon, feeling bored with my old blog layout and colors. hehe

Oh yes, this is a travel WITHOUT a camera. A first since I owned Vincent and Harvey. (so expect this to be a text-heavy post)

I like traveling, I like photography, and I like blogging too. And luckily, I've already outgrown that
"i-travel-for-the-sake-of-having-great-photos" and "i-travel-because-I-need-to-blog-it-after" crazes too. But for my next trip, I just wanted to try traveling without a camera at all..

Last April, my friends planned to try surfing in La Union - in time for JGC's annual summer getaway. Exciting as I have not tried this activity yet. Then I decided not to bring my cameras with me. Im a self confessed shutterbug but that time I knew I just want to learn how to surf and have a great time with my friends.

La Union is approximately a 5-hour drive from Manila. 6 hours with 2-3 stopovers. I salute my friends who volunteered to drive. I know this long drive is exhausting.
We stayed in Sebay Surf Resort. We got an aircon room for 10pax which cost us P5,000. Not bad. We headed directly to the beach. It may not look appealing at all because of the dark sand and water, but this place is heaven for surfers!

Surfing Instructor's rate is P200/hour. Board rental is another P200/hour. After we're given the instructions blah-blah (which took 2 minutes), we're ready to surf!

I admit I had a hard time learning to wakeboard in CWC. That's why Im so surprised I was able to stand up on my 1st try! I tried it again for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th time - it seemed effortless. I always made it to stand in the surf board and ride the waves.

instructor: 1st time mo ba? bakit ang galing mo?
me: parang baha lang to samin. taga Malabon po ako! Ü

I dont need to bend my knees and I dont need to raise my arms sidewards to gain my balance. I was just able to do it. Parang naglalakad lang.

parang naglalakad lang ^_^

And after several attempts, I got bored. I wanted larger waves and longer rides. I started harutin ang mga friends ko...

chismisan while waiting for the waves

Im sorry Im not concentrating enough, pero naman, pag sinabi ng instructor kong "stand up!"..

effortless surfing
may advantage din pala ang taga flooded area ng Malabon ^_^

Oh well, I think it's just my lucky day. Or maybe the waves are just cooperative. Looking forward to try this in the rainy season. Malay mo ito na pala ang calling ko! =)

Thank you Che Che, Tompots, and Lui for my photos.
Thank you Josel and Lulu for driving.
