A Solo Year End Trip - Macampao Beach Resort and Leisure Farm

Our annual winter trip is a bit delayed and there I was - longing for a quick solo yearend trip. I searched for a getaway place where I can sleep by the beach, eat healthy food, and spend some refreshing and quiet time alone. Fortunately, I found a resort in Zambales which qualifies everything I look for, and even more!

destination: solitude

A Solo Year-End Trip
Honestly I have this issue of inggit with friends who have hometown provinces. My parents are both natives of Malabon that's why I never had a hometown province. From time to time, I make sure to experience the province life even over the weekend. Who wouldn't love to see trees, breathe fresh air, and eat newly harvest goods from their own farm. So for this solo trip, it's gonna be at Zambales.

 entrance to tranquility

Macampao Beach Resort and Leisure Farm used to be a family beach house until the owners decided to open their home to the public. I called them up last minute for reservation and luckily confirmed they can accommodate me.

rustic and homey

Feast For One
The welcome lunch was already waiting for me when I arrived. The tables are already designated for each group. The alfresco dining hall is surrounded by trees which gives a forest feel. It felt so comforting.

dining area with forest feels

The kitchen staff initially setup a table for 2. They made adjustment when they found out I came alone. No questions asked. Nothing to explain. Haha Same feels whenever I travel solo.

Rates of accommodation at Macampao Beach Resort and Leisure Farm come with full board meals. Food which they harvest from their own farm. I got excited with this part specially when I have a healthy lifestyle now. Im expecting the food to be great but I didn't expect it to be a feast each time. The dishes and portions are overwhelming. I cannot believe how much food they serve. This made me realize this is one of the businesses which do not mind the money. They serve for customer satisfaction.

the kitchen staff served my breakfast with kamote, eggplant, and pechay. kinilig ako! ♥

Every guest in the resort surely look forward to each meal time. As I said, it was always a feast. Each meal usually consists of seafood, meat, vegetables, fruits, and mango shake. I'm curing my bile reflux and any acidic food will be harmful for me. When the staff found out about this, they replaced the mango shake with fresh buko juice. I highly appreciate every adjustment they made for my health condition.

always a lovely meal time at Macampao

Play and Relax
Sunrise and sunset times are best enjoyed by the private beach at Macampao. In between, guests can hang out at the cabanas, equipped with pillows and fans. Some of activities available include surfing, kayak, frisbee, and horse back riding. For kids, they have this inflatable plunge pool.

Comfortable Sleep by the Beach
What made me chose Macampao Beach Resort and Leisure Farm is the accommodation they offered. If you're like me who love to sleep by the beach but wants the comfort at the same time, then the cabana accommodation is the best for us. It has a bed, a mattress, pillows, blanket, mosquito net, blinds for privacy, closet, electric fans, and extension for cellphone charging! Gorgeous, I'm sold!

The ocean waves was so therapeutic that my heart happily woke up to hear the waves and feel the ocean breeze every morning. In the morning I did yoga, run, bike, and kayak. In the afternoon, I catch up with my favorite tv series. Just the way I wanted to spend my leisure time.

A Private Paradise
Aside from my yoga practice, circuit training, and swimming, my love for photography keeps me relaxed. Macampao gave me a place to do all these things. Big bonus is the sumptuous and healthy food they serve. It was such a worry-free solo retreat.

#ChyngFitnessDiary
For some it's just a handstand, but for those women who practice any inversion, this means months of strengthening the arms, core, and balance. This means training the mind to conquer the fear of falling. Now I understand that it's not just a funky handstand. This means a lot of struggle, hard work, and motivation. May ganon! 😂

My 2016 is all about wellness and fitness. I had countless visits to different doctors. Well, praning kasi ako. But my being praning lead me to a new lifestyle. I started to run, practice yoga, and do circuit training. I trained myself to be more conscious of what I eat. I learned to train my mind not to quit whenever I cannot stand anymore. I set goals and challenged myself that I can. 2016 brought me to be a better version of myself. Char!

whenever I get asked what's my fitness goal, I would always answer headstand. done! now trying the handstand.
share ko next post ang aking fitness journey.

Thank you Macampao Beach Resort and Leisure Farm for welcoming me to your home. It was a well spent 3 days to unwind and celebrate the new year, the way I liked it. Kudos to all the staff, specially the kitchen team who always made sure I enjoy my food.  Next time I'll surely tag my family with me.

The Rock, The Falls, and The Blue Lagoon | Ilocos Norte

Ilocos remains to be very special and memorable to me. Last 2010, I had an unexpected solo trip. There I was - traveling with insufficient money, no ATM card, no cellphone on hand, and the best part was it's all happening on my birthday! It was harsh at first, but it turned out to be a very blessed birthday trip experience. Check out My Ilocos Norte Trip 2010.

Since then, I've been wanting to revisit the place- not just for the food I never got to taste, or the places I never had the chance to see, but for the genuine person I met. Kamusta na kaya ang super tour guide kong si Mang Arnel?

I didn't notice that the bus has reached the terminal because I was really enjoying the quiet-me-time on the bus. I guess I just missed to travel alone, it's been 3 years since I last did. Anyway, I bet Mang Arnel was also delighted when he finally saw me again. Hehe We had a long and nice conversation. I wish I knew how to address their tourism issue with the local government.

Anyway, Im glad the weather fully cooperated on those 2 days. I was able to view Pagudpud at its finest (or almost). There are only 3 places I really wanted to see in Pagudpud: Kapurpurawan Rock Formations, Kaangrian Falls, and the Blue Lagoon.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formations
It was lovelier the second time around. True that visitors are not allowed anymore to see the front area up close, but the great news is the back area is equally stunning! Actually it's better for camwhoring. =)

the back area is equally stunning!

best time to visit Kapurpurawan is between 8am - 11am

The rock formations are amazing as ever. And as they say, tiis ganda shot. The sun was unforgiving but everyone, including me, was brave enough to endure the heat for this chance of having a nice souvenir shot. I wished I had my umbrella with me, kaso wala akong check in baggage allowance. Poor me.

Blue Lagoon | Maira-Ira
It rained the first time I visited so I didn't really see how blue is the water in Blue Lagoon. I was completely surprised to see the blue gradient of the beach. It was indeed a blue lagoon. Honestly, I liked Blue Lagoon more than the beaches of El Nido.

this is one of the best beaches in Luzon, in my opinion

the sand may not be very fine but it doesn't matter

i loved the peaceful and simple setting of this beach

Blue Lagoon ranks 9th in my Best Beaches in the Philippines list

Kaangrian Falls
Kabigan Falls is great but I heard Kaangrian Falls is so much better! Mang Arnel just warned me that the trek was not an easy one. True enough, the trek was exhausting but only because the weather was extremely hot. The 45-min trek to the falls was bearable by the way.

Okay, we were both disappointed to know that there's not enough water on the falls. Toinks Oh well, waterfalls are dry on a summer season. Maybe the best time to go here is between October to January.

but I have to admit the water still looked mystical

Anyway, at least I saw Kaangrian Falls and I made myself proud by not collapsing in the middle of an exhausting trek. Good vibes! ^_^

Hesitant Solo Female Traveler? Not Anymore!

As I chanced upon blogs and forums about Pinays who travel solo, I cant help but be impressed. Those Pinays must be really so gutsy to do that. It never crossed my mind to travel alone but in an instance, my heart began pounding for a solo travel too.

And so the plan was born.

I crossed out Bohol, Cebu, Boracay, Puerto Galera, and Baguio in my options. I've already been to these places, besides I dont find any thrilling adventures on these spots. I wanted to risk more and enjoy more. The one place that stood out for me was Sagada. It's not an easy breezy chillax travel destination. I've never been there. I dont know anyone from Sagada. It's a 12-hour bus ride from Manila, and the adventures are only for the strong-willed. Sagada is just perfect for my 1st ever solo travel.

Sounds easy? Trust me, it's not.

Everything was set, but up to the last minute I admit I wanted to back out. The thought of being sick, being in danger, and being helpless while being away from everybody who knows me freaked me out.
I just wanted to cancel everything I planned. I was scared.

to go or not to go?

If you're looking to buy a camera for your travels, try using these Dell Coupons.

Im still hesitant on the day of my Sagada trip. I knew I dont have to prove anything to myself and to others- but I badly wanted to experience this now else I might regret this big time. I know I may got sick, be in danger, and be bored, but I wouldn't know all of these unless I pursue this trip.

Fast forward.
I closed my eyes, prayed, took a deep breath, and left our house. Took a bus and arrived in Sagada. Survived the 6-hour Cave Connection in Lumiang + Sumaguing, trekked the mighty Bomod-Ok falls, saw the Echo Valley and Hanging Coffins upclose, learned their rich culture, and tasted their most raved specialties.

I was never the adventurous type. But my being alone taught me not to complain and throw tantrums at all (who would care anyway if I do? Im alone!). I was never fond of talking to locals too. But in this case, I was forced to. That made me understand that traveling is more than just seeing the beautiful spots. It's actually allowing yourself to learn and be part of the place.

This solo travel gave me the chance to discover about myself more, interact and immerse with the locals, appreciate the quiet-me-time, and remind me that my happiness must never be dependent with anyone but myself.

as my souvenir shirt says:
I survived Sagada alone!

So if you're to ask me what are the hardest parts of my 1st solo travel?
1st, it's convincing myself that everything will be just fine. 2nd, stepping out of our house while erasing all the paranoia in my head.
..and nothing more.
After Ive overcome these, I traveled alone to Ilocos, Vietnam, and Cambodia too. Looks like Im not a hesitant solo female traveler anymore! ^_^
