○ From Cebu City, we boarded the Ceres bus which is bound to Tanaw-an Oslob at 4:05am. This bus left the terminal at 4:17am. Fare is P155.
○ And so I thought the trip would take 3-4 hours, I was wrong. At 6:22am, the driver informed us we were already in Oslob. Yes, almost 2 hours lang pala ang byahe.
○ We registered ourselves and I was greatly annoyed by the fees. Ang dami. Inferness, lahat may resibo, so I think it's an ordinance.

We've traveled far enough to see the whale sharks up close so deadma na sa fees.
○ We were given a number then we proceeded to the briefing area. To be fair, the tourism officers are really trying to organize the tour.
○ We changed clothes, gave our number to the boatman, and presented the receipts - and we're all set. We have 20mins of extreme close encounter with the whale sharks.
○ No need for spotters, the whale sharks were just chasing the food thrown by the specific boatman in charge.
○ Although the tourism officials reminded everyone about the proper distance from the whale sharks, the guests and the boatmen can't help but go closer to the gentle giant. oh well, talk about extreme close encounter.
○ It was fulfilling to finally see a whale shark. I heard there were days when not even one whale shark appears. So I guess we got lucky that time.
○ I was down in the water and I felt nervous as the whale shark headed towards me. Iba pa din yung makita siya in my snorkel mask- upclose and personal.
○ And these words made me realize these boatmen are not tour guides at all. They are just fishermen who switched to being guides.
○ Nevertheless, Im happy for this town. It means more job opportunities and income for the locals.
○ I heard they did not intentionally plan to pet these whale sharks. One time they just appeared and started to disturb/eat the fishermen's baits. So to distract the whale shark, some fishermen fed the whale shark in another location- in order to leave their baits alone. The following day is history.
○ 30mins after, we headed back to the shore. We unanimously agreed this was a great experience.
○ For the record, DOT supports Oslob's Whale Shark watching tour.
○ Anyway, for those who wishes to sleep or stay longer, here's a basic and cheap accommodation in Oslob. Contact Ms. Marilyn @ cell number 0906.586.9895 and 0933.509.5736. Room rates are P1,500 for a family room (6-7persons), P800 for a double room, and P350 for a single room.

another item down in my To-Do-List ^_^
Lol! #jazzkidding
Also the whale shark watching fee is a bit steep as well. how i wish matuloy ako this may! I wanna watch the gentle giants up close.
For a time I thought wala nang whale sharks sa Oslob. Good to find out na andyan pa rin silaaaaaa! :D
Ang dami nga lang fees na bigla. Huhuhu.
Oh wow! This looks so surreal for someone who doesn't travel a lot! Para na rin ako nakarating dito sis... thanks for the post :)
Hi Chyng! I was really excited about sa Oslob whale watching. Will be at Cebu sa May pero out of way ang Oslob, kaya hindi nalang. And nabasa ko din 'to: http://savephilippineseas.com/2012/02/05/oslob-whale-sharks-amazingly-unnatural/
Your views/comments will be highly appreciated! ;)
yeay! good to hear you enjoyed the trip. di pa kasi ako nka experience niyan.. kahit taga cebu ako.. LOL!
Hindi ako marunong magswim tsaka baka lamunin ako nung shark kahit pa walang ngipin like what Manong Fisherman said. Chos.
Another strike sa iyong To-Do list this year! :D Eh yung travel natin together kaya, kelan? :P
seriously? Ang show off nila, parang nasa Pampang lang ang mga butanding! At ang mga tao---parang me pyestang dagat lang!!me parada ng water float?hahaha>Panin ko though, medyo maliliit ang mga butanding compared to Donsol, tama ba?ilan lahat nakita nyo dito?
galing naman, 1 off the bucket list.
hihimatayin ata ako pag up close and personal na kami ng tuki hahaha
congrats chyng! natutuwa ako kasi kahit papaano, at least nakita nyo ang mga whale sharks :D
daming fees pero i agree with you, at least may resibo lahat.
you didn't jump into the water, chyng?
wow! d man lg namn naexperice to nung nag bohol-cebu vacation kami :(
Thanks for the info about the rates. Planning to go there next month.
ginawa ng business! hehe! pero, still a great experience.. :)
yikes.. thanks for the tips chyng!
I was a nice experience for you and your friends. Pero ako siguro, sa dalampasigan na lang. he he
gusto ko rin ma-experience to, sana in the near future!
sana makakita din me ng butanding up-close and personal. hehehe
dami nga fees...oh well, sinusulit nila siguro dahil silat ang lugar nila ngayon. eh para san pla ang snorkling fee?
hayun, dami ko ng trips na nakalista :-)
Wow! Buti I read this! Okay lang naman to for day trip noh? My friend and I are going to Cebu this August. :)
Followed you!

tama ka, i;m, happy fos this town although d ko xa mxado na enjoy sa sobrang damne ng tao at na naman nasusunod ang rules maxado.
wow! you were just like inches away from the whaleshark! aweeeeesomeee!!!!
Nice article I have posted a link to your article on my blog. www.philippineadventure.com I hope that is ok.
wow! thanks for the detailed info I'm planning to go there. I'm just wondering, what's the 20php Camera receipt all about?
^ camera fee is P100
snorkeling fee is P20
what for? di ko alam!! haha ask the tourism officials
Chyng, how deep is the water when you had a close encounter with the whale shark? It looks like the whale shark was just on shallow water. anyways, this is a great post and great adventure! i'd love to try this adventure someday.
^
not shallow at all. depth wold be a minimum of 50ft, i think. i saw divers in the bottom so that's where i gauged the depth. hula ko lang =)
hi chyng,
nice article about the tuki's of oslob. im looking forward on seeing them on 15th april. im checking on the single room accomodation. is it walking distance to where the boats take off?
tia!
^ yes, it wont take a minute. katapat lang ng bahay yung dagat. =)
Our entire trip is really relaxing and astonishing. Seeing those Whale Sharks (Gentle Giants) swimming near you is a breathe-taking experience. I really love it! I would come back to Oslob every vacation
