Matapang ang may Life Insurance

Here are some of my memorable activities last 2010:

1. traveled Sagada alone (with cave connection)
2. explored and crossed the borders of Vietnam and Cambodia alone
3. climbed Mt.Pulag, the 3rd highest peak in Pinas (where the temp drops to zero degrees)
4. braved the waves just to reach Calaguas (with no lifevest)
5. experienced expert course rafting and the longest dual zipline
6. enjoyed parasailing and reefwalking
7. jumped into the 100 feet deep Barracuda Lake (with no lifevest)

Buwis buhay I know!
But what's life without taking chances? No one gets out of here alive anyway.
Might as well risk more and enjoy more! ^_^

Since I know I'll be doing more risky travels this year, I got myself another life insurance (aside from the one that my employer provides). This one's got a better coverage.

the blogger is insured ^_^

If I die (anywhere), my family gets P1,000,000 right away.
If I die by accident (anywhere), they get P1,500,000 right away.
If I acquired some critical illness, I'll get P500,000 right away.
(wala akong disability benefit kasi hindi naniniwala si ate Judith (Mama ko) na madidisable ako.. haha!)

Right after I enrolled myself, I..

1. explored Batad - where Julia Campbell was murdered. Not to mention I trekked the riskiest waterfall trail. whew!
2. scuba dive in Balicasag. very risky especially for someone like me who has a lung defect. I needed to lie just to be permitted to dive.

Im positive nothing would go wrong, but in case there might - insured ako. =)

But of course, I want to be the beneficiary myself. Gusto ko ako makinabang sa pera! Good thing, all the payments Ive made have fund values. So anytime I need the money, I can withdraw the interest + dividends that my money has earned. Lovely! This is a good investment and a good way to save up for a dream vacation in the future!

I choose Sunlife.

Sabi ni Mama, Sunlife is both an insurance and investment company. It has the highest stock market value among its competitors. The higher the stock value, the higher the earnings of your money. Check the daily broadsheets to compare.

Sensha na, Im no Business Admin graduate. Engineering Math lang ang alam ko. But all know is Im insured while my money is earning at the same time. Just exactly what I needed. ^_^

Just sharing. It's not a sponsored post. Wish ko lang! haha
btw, I got this life insurance together with Nina of Justwandering.org. we both look forward to our money's earnings (hello Antarctica in the future! Ü)

Yan ang maganda pag insured.SA mga insured lang take time to know the policy and have your family knows what to do. Insurance Policy have rules to disqualify you from claims.like late ka lang magsumbit ng mga documents na kailangan nila.

wow...ako hindi pa insured kelangan ko na pala nyan....sa erpats sunlife din.....maganda nga diyan...ano bang klase ung plan nyo ms. chyng.....^_^..

I have one too. too bad it's not like yours na pwede i-withdraw yung money any time I decide I no longer want to continue. Lam mo naman pag kamag-anak ang nag-bebenta..mahirap tanggihan :p I just think of it as my time deposit para sa aking future European trip LOL

Hey Chyng! Glad to know you bought insurance as most Filipinos I know don't have one.

I don't want to burst your bubble, however, I'd like to emphasize that for life insurance, "it also does not cover death resulting from risky activities that the insured person puts themselves into willingly. For example, compensation will not be made for death resulting from parachuting, sky diving and risky sports like mountain climbing or deep sea diving."

Life insurance (such as yours in Sunlife) doesn't cover accidents outside the home country. Since you travel outside of the Philippines too, I suggest you get Travel insurance, just for the number of days you are on travel in a foreign land.

I love your blog by the way. Keep up the good work!

Bisous bisous.

Chyng said...

^ thanks for that Aimee. I double checked with my agent about this risky activities that I sometimes do. As long as hindi ko naman daw job ang scuba diving and parachuting, Im still covered.

there is a RATED case too. you'll add some more to cover the risky activities if ever you are really prone to that.

you point is interesting. thanks for dropping by. =)

Chyng said...

thanks all!
again, I dont wanna die. i want to save up while being insured. mag-iingat ako ng bongga as always!

Never pa ako nagpa-insure. Which is kinda weird kasi sa dad side namin, puro life insurers sila :) Siguro will apply someday soon, especially may Luna na kami! Or maybe we should compose a last will already, kasi kung anu-ano pinaggagawa namin. Haha.

pusangkalye said...

wala akong ka-insu-insurance. mukha atang I( need to get more into these life threatening activities para mapilitan akong kumuha ng life insurance, hahaha.

BTW: about Pinatubo, we stayed safe--bus kami. :D

Sidney said...

Honestly...the best insurance is to be prudent in life. Do the things that you like but don't be irresponsible in what you do.
Nobody cares about the 1.5M if you die. Especially if you don't have kids.
A good health and travel insurance is much better.

And never forget... insurance companies are always eager to get your payments... but when something happens than they will always find a clause/excuse not to pay.

escape said...

pwede mo ba kaming i-declare na family? hahaha... this is really good. dapat ata kukuha talaga ako nito.

blissfulguro said...

eto ang wala ako...hmmm...magkano monthly?hehe

markpogi said...

Hihihi! Take care lang kasi lagi. Wag masyadong risky. Hinay hinay lang.. May bukas pa friend.

I have the same feeling about travel insurance. I am never afraid of getting delayed due to storms/tornadoes etc and not afraid to get sick in other countries because of it.

Same feeling with health insurance :)

Oh and I am from Sun Life :) It truly is heartwarming reading posts like these. I am glad to be part of a company that does difference in the lives of Filipinos.
